Camp Hill Edwardians break two European records in same day

 Masters News

Camp Hill Edwardians swimmers have broken a European record in both sessions of day two at the Swim England Masters National Championships.

After breaking the Women’s 800m Freestyle Team record earlier in the day, the same team followed it up with another European record in the Women’s 200m Freestyle Team event.

Their time of 2:06.79 certified that they would be collecting another gold medal and that it would be two new British and European records.

Diana Nash said: “We all feel brilliant, absolutely brilliant because it’s all about the team and they’re great girls and we’ve just had such fun, we’ve worked really hard for this.

“We broke the European record last year, but we’ve managed to bring another girl in so we’ve broke our own record, and we missed the world record by two seconds!”

When asked if next year may be the year they break the world record, Diana replied: “Possibly, possibly, never say never!”

Dear Camp Hill Edwardians members,

A reply before 30th August is needed to make sure we can choose which relays we do & then enter immediately.

Please contact me whether or not you are intending to compete this year….or if you have any questions.

We are just over 2 months away from the Masters Nationals at Sheffield.  Click here...

This year I believe we can produce quite a few competitive relay teams – particularly in the older age groups.

Please let me know which days, sessions and relay distances you will be available for selection for. We are having a stab at most distances this year.

Closing date for entries is not until October 4th but  relay entry slots are being gobbled up fast… as I type the men’s  4 x 200 and men’s 4 x 100 freestyle slots have gone.

Thanks, I look forward to hearing from you all and hope you enjoy the remaining weeks of the summer.

Kate

School Pool Closure 18th - 24th February 2019

A message from the school...

As you may be aware we have been having some issues around the pool plant / filtration system and water treatment.

The school have engaged a contractor to undertake significant works to the water treatment plant which includes complete strip down of the filtering system and replacing the filtration materials within the tanks, some alterations and repairs to the pipe work to enable more effective back washing and the installation of an auto dosing chemical management system to ensure that the water quality it the best it can be alt all times.

The works are planned for to take place over the February half term week 18th Feb - 24th Feb and the pool will be closed for the duration of that week. It is anticipated that the works will be completed within that time period and the pool re opening on Monday 26th Feb.

As will all major projects and given that the plant has not been worked on for a long time there may (but hopefully not) be some issues no yet known that may require the works to run beyond the dates stated. If this was to be the case I would hope we would know this early rather than later and i would of course let you know if the closure needed to be extended.

Apologies for any inconvenience in the immediate term but hopefully once the works are completed it should improve the water quality significantly and reduce as far as practical any future closures related to poor water quality.

First British Record of the Year

Anne Bourne has set Camp Hill Edwardians first British Record of the year.

Competing in the Carlisle Masters event over the weekend she promptly broke the 800 freestyle for her age group in 11:40.47

Well done Anne!
